MY PLATFORM

As of January 3rd, 2023 I'm both happy & excited to announce my candidacy for Bayside Trustee. 

TRUSTEE
My philosophy is that an elected official should operate with transparency, integrity, honesty and ALWAYS be nicer than necessary. My community roots run deep, and I am always making connections. I'm engaged in the neighborhood and am constantly looking for ways to improve our lovely village. As a Trustee, I’ll provide logical and sound perspectives, pertaining to current and future issues.  I intend to support business growth and opportunities that will truly enhance the community, while being fiscally responsible. Utilizing both common sense and good judgment to evaluate each issue individually, I will strive to balance the high level of service our residents deserve. I will help bring life & creative events to the new North Shore Library, & delve into the OneNorth development currently underway. I've also been serving on the Bayside Architectural Review Board for the last half of 2022, so I have been privy to the latest events & progress of those projects.

PROPOSED POLICIES
In order to promote a positive, progressive community, I propose forward thinking activities & healthy ventures. I'd like to plan & organize activities within our community that encourage kindness, humanity, & extending ourselves to others. I plan on coordinating festivals, local artisan fairs, musicians, & myBlue interactions.  I am an environmentally aware citizen & always have the best intentions for our surroundings.  I am diligent & forthcoming regarding any existing or new developments in Bayside. I am in favor of a library & the amenities this will provide for our families.  I will also be an advocate for each & every resident in order to be inclusive.

BAYSIDE LIVIN'
I’ve been a Bayside resident for nearly 9 years. After a job relocation, my family, and I moved here from the city of Chicago. I was pleasantly surprised to settle right into the neighborhood, with an extremely welcoming group of neighbors. I soon realized the genuine authenticity of this kindness. At the end of the day, we all have the same desires. To be happy, healthy & loved. We are truly seeking to be one. 

FAMILY & FUN
My family is engrained in Bayside.  My son/Quentin attends Bayside Middle School, and has played local sports here since K5. At 13, he enjoys watching all professional sports with his dad and his like-minded friends. He is a stellar friend and phenomenal ally to under privileged kids, disabled kids, socially awkard kids, and any person that may have any slight impediment. My husband/Nick, and partner of 23+ years, works at a local advertising agency. He would buy all the concert tickets if he had the ability, and I'm always his 1st date choice. You'll often see me and my white boxer running the streets of Bayside, out for a seratonin & endorphin boost. We usually accomplish 5-10 miles a day, and winter is my absolute favorite time to do it.

DEAR TO MY HEART
In 2020 my son/Quentin and I helped raised $40,000 for Philip's Supreme Court. Dedicated to Philip Langston Gutter,  who died in an auto accident at 11 yrs old. He was like a brother to my son Quentin, & like family to us. He stayed with us daily, after school. He went on vacation with us. He ate dinner with us. Philip had an extreme love for basketball, and also wanted to make a difference in the Supreme Court someday. The outdoor facility was built at Bayside Middle School for the entire community to use for basketball, year round. Philip's mother & grandfather also died in this tragic accident, so there's also a tribute to them at the site. We have devoted so much time and effort to this lifelong investment in Philip's memory.

CAREER HISTORY
For over 20 years I’ve worked as a Producer in advertising, marketing & PR. My endeavors have been successful collaborations on worldwide campaigns for Abbott, Budweiser, Corona, Emerson, Hyatt, Kohler, Kraft, Microsoft, McDonalds, Obamacare, & many more. I was extremely fortunate to travel, create, & ultimately accomplish more than I could have ever imagined. Upon arrival in Bayside, I began freelancing remotely & consulting at firms while my kiddo was in elementary school. This worked to my advantage, as I made my own hours, & chose my own jobs on a contract basis. In addition, I started staging homes in Chicago for realtor connections. Once I established a firm following & solid inventory, I began designing interiors on a dime, specifically for less fortunate individuals. This is what led me to my current beloved endeavor.

PHILANTHROPIC, NONPROFIT
Once the pandemic hit, things changed for everyone. We all took a step back and stayed in our homes, inevitably. People decided they were tired of looking at the same old things, and many decided to improve their surroundings in their homes. Donations of furniture, home goods, artwork, decor, rugs, & more were abundant/everywhere. A wonderful friend asked if I would help put things together for people in need. For the last three years, we have been able to help some of Milwaukee’s most vulnerable individuals have a safe haven and comfortable home to live in with their families. I became the Executive Director of my nonprofit, called homeMKErs. This has allowed me to see all facets of Milwaukee, including the most desperate situations, and truly appreciate the amenities of Bayside. The disparity within Milwaukee County is astonishing & heartbreaking. Fortunately, homeMKErs provides everything, free of charge to the families we serve & provide for. This requires more work, more hours, & more time than I’ve ever spent on anything ~ yet this is the absolute most rewarding “job” I’ve ever had. There is no pay, but my heart is fuller than ever.

Vote on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023. I’m ready to serve our community as a Trustee, & promote the livelihood of our village, and radiate positivity.
